Kontent recently released his excellent debut EP, Dimension Drift, via Egyptian Maraccas.

I asked him a few basic questions about inspiration and process…

I have always felt like my teenage years have been consumed with an existence that strikes a delicate balance between beauty and inelegance of everyday city living. This EP attempts to synthesize my feelings towards the simultaneous experiences of pleasure and pain in my life.

The actual production of the Dimension Drift EP came very naturally, as if my mind had always been looking for a way to express these feelings. In terms of influences, I have always drawn inspiration from the soulful feel of 90s Garage and the lush sounds of the flourishing UK scene.

There are those beautiful moments where anything feels possible. You wake up and suddenly your view on life has completely changed…

Kontent (aka Lucas Druz) is an eighteen-year old producer from Los Angeles (yup, another one). He’s obviously still very young, with a lot of room to grow and mature, but this one track definitely shows a serious amount of potential. The chopped up vocal-samples move around so effortlessly and that synthesizer really starts to go wild about halfway through. Just wait for it.
